Prayers of the People

Sunday, June 9, 2013
Offered by Victoria G. Curtiss, Associate Pastor

Loving Creator and Guide, we praise you for being present to us wherever we are on the journey of faith. We thank you for knowing our needs even better than we do and for accompanying us each step and season of life.

Hear us now as we lift up to you all who struggle with doubt, uncertainties, and unanswered questions.

We pray for those whose work has no meaning and those with no work at all.

We lift up to you all who are discouraged or captive to depression or mental health disorders.

We pray for all who are burdened by illness or chronic pain.

We pray for caregivers—professional and family members.

We pray for all who anticipate loss or are grieving.

We pray for those whose homes have been destroyed by tornadoes.

We pray for peace in places of violence and war, in our city, nation, and world, and we pray for our enemies.

We pray for parents, teachers, and mentors as they shape the lives of children.

We pray for people in positions of political power.

We pray for ourselves and all your church, that we may be your faithful witnesses.

All these things we lift up to you with confidence in your abiding love and presence in our lives, made known to us through Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray together, saying, Our Father . . .
