Prayers of the People

Offered by Victoria G. Curtiss, Associate Pastor

God of the circling years, whose faithfulness spans generations, your grace and mercy continually astound us! Through Christ you have entered our world, walked where we walk, shared our life’s burdens, and been touched by our joys and sorrows. Through the Spirit you hear and respond to our prayers. We thank you that we need hide nothing from you. You know our longings and desires, our fears and addictions. We thank you that you provide for our healing, our wholeness, our living together in harmony and justice. We can hardly fathom the depth of your unconditional love and care for each one of us and for all your people. We praise you for every moment in which your Light shines hope.

We pray for neighbors near and far. Comfort and deliver all who live with loss or in peril. Especially we pray for those who have recently experienced loss through gun violence and wildfires. Give to those who are incarcerated the reassurance that their confinement does not separate them from your love. Liberate all who are oppressed economically, politically, or racially. In our nation, and all nations, open our hearts to welcome the strangers, the immigrants, and the refugees, especially those fleeing homelands devastated by war, gang violence, or poverty. Guide our elected officials so that they seek what benefits the common good, beyond partisan politics. All this we pray in the name of Jesus, who taught us, Our Father . . .
