Today’s Reading  |  John 14:6–8
“Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me; or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father.” (NRSV)

Reflection
To be so in tune with someone is such a wonderful feeling. I wonder how God feels every time we fail and break that amazing oneness with our God? As Jesus said earlier in verse 7, “If you had known me, you would have known my Father also.” I know for me that unity breaks the minute I try and do things myself.

How in tune with the Father am I right now? What happens when moments pass me by because I could not stop and trust that love? When God and I are completely in sync, I feel God dwelling in my life. I don’t want things to have to fall apart, have missed opportunities to see what God is trying to show me. I want my great works to be fully done by Christ because “I go to the Father.”

Prayer
Lord, help me in this new year to daily be an example of your love, so that when people see me, they see your Father also. Amen.
