Today's Hymn
“All Glory, Laud, and Honor”

Refrain

All glory, laud, and honor to thee, Redeemer, King,
to whom the lips of children made sweet hosannas ring!

Thou art the King of Israel,
thou David’s royal Son,
who in the Lord’s name comest,
the King and blessed One. Refrain

The people of the Hebrews
with palms before thee went;
our praise and prayers and anthems
before thee we present. Refrain

Hymn 196, Glory to God
verses 1–2

Reflection

This hymn is often used to begin Palm Sunday liturgies to commemorate Jesus’ salvific entry into Jerusalem. My reflections turn to the way in which Jesus, God’s Son, so steadfastly loved us to fully take on our humanity and faced what we fear.

Do you sometimes feel God’s presence in the midst of your vulnerability? What I find comforting about Lent, Jesus’ ministry, and the scriptures is that God understands our brokenness and seeks to not only heal us but to transform and guide us. Our wounds become sacred when we present them to our Redeemer King and allow them to become a vehicle by which God helps us evolve in deepened maturity, wisdom, and connection with God and others.

Prayer
Gracious God, keep us mindful of your presence, especially during our most challenging moments in life. Help us to find you in one another as well and to praise you for the ways we are upheld and find strength and comfort through the multitude of ways you find us and redeem us. Amen.
